Obtain the current password for the guest account
In the past we used a login (guest:guest) in order to access our guest account,
and we asked kindly for the name of the guest and the E-Mail Address.
Unfortunately this was exploited by many - many guests didn't leave their right
name or E-Mail Address. We can't understand this and after the Cray-Cyber.org
server was exploited using the guest account we finally decided to turn off
guest access. Now we turn guest access on again and hope that it works
now, but we have introduced another mechanism.
How accessing the account works:
Every midnight (Central European Time), a new guest account password will be
created and set, that means a guest password is valid for one day.
Please use the form below to request the current guest password, it will get
E-Mailed to your address which you have to specify.
You can then access the account until midnight, then you have to request the
next password. You can, of course, request a password as often as you want.
When you receive the password, please telnet or ssh to login.cray-cyber.org and
use the username guest with the password specified in the E-Mail to log on.
Please note: Only use the guest password specified in the E-Mail when you are
first prompted for the password (this means when you are prompted for the
password for the host login.cray-cyber.org). All other hosts which you can
select from the menu presented to you after logging in with the guest password
emailed to you can be accessed with the username guest and the password guest.
Example:
In this example, the guest password you received is abc123, so you:
- telnet or SSH (preferred) to login.cray-cyber.org
- Log on with username guest, password abc123
- Choose a host to which you want to connect to from the list (e.g. 1 = Cray Y-MP EL)
- Enter guest as username and guest as password
- You can now use the Cray Y-MP EL
Please specify your true name and E-Mail address, because if this will also be
abused we have to disable guest access forever.
We do not give away your E-Mail Address or use it otherwise, it will just be
stored for documentation purposes in our database.
By clicking the button above, you agree to our Terms of usage.
